Day 3: Trap Doors

DSC04579

Stop asking me to visit people’s minds. Understanding why people do, say, or think the way they do is a complicated process. And, let’s be honest: some people’s minds are mazes, some are dungeons, but they all have trap doors.

Day 2: A Great Experience

NYE Dinner

2016 began in the only way it could, I imagine… I so love unintended staging.

This morning after bringing in the New Year in a new fashion, I had breakfast with some new friends. My bill came to $6.66. The very presence of the number brought forth the expected commentary. I silently thought, the futurists will have a field day with this one. How does it change after the tariff for service is paid?

Sometimes, a number is just a number. Sometimes it is not.

Without dissecting the outerworld implications of my first meal of the New Year, here is what I know: I left with a full stomach, a full wallet, and a great experience!

Happy New Year 2016!

Day 1: An Interview with 2016 with a Cameo from 2010

DSC05074_2

2016: Looking back over your life, what are you looking forward to in the New Year?

EYHCS: That is an excellent question. <Ponders the question with a reflective countenance>

2016: Do you have an excellent answer?

EYHCS: Yes. <Replies with a dead and stark countenance>

2016: <fully engaged with hips seated at the front of the lounge chair> Care to share?

EYHCS: <continuing to be display a coy demeanor> Sure.

EYHCS: Change, affirmation, and fulfillment of promises are what I am looking forward to in the New Year.

2016: Wow, you don’t shy away from the complex, do you? <Centers left hand across chests in a faux humble fashion>

EYHCS: Never have and never will.

2016: How would you characterize 2015?

EYHCS: At times it was akin to Jack Nicholson from A Few Good Men with “You can’t handle the truth”. At other times it was akin to Rafiki from the Lion King with “Simba, he’s alive!” And, as the year drew to an close, it was Neo from the Matrix with, “I am going to hang up this phone and show the people what you don’t want them to see. The rest I leave up to you!”

2016: Any special resolutions for the New Year?

EYHCS: Not really. I am just grateful to be of sound mind and body after the last several years of testing and trying I have undergone.

2016: What type of testing and trying? How do you define testing and trying?

EYHCS: The simplest definition is the easiest definition. I have been tested mentally, spiritually, emotionally, physically, psychologically, and physiologically.

2010: I was there.

2016: How so?

2010: I saw it all unfold. Yet, I could not intervene. It was a battle required to define, affirm, and confirm her true character. I knew she could and would prevail. I just needed her to know the same.

EYHCS: It was hard at times. A lot of people look at me today and comment how together I seem. They don’t know how much it cost to not only appear this way, but to be this way.

2016: Cost?

EYHCS: Yes, the spiritual and mental cost. The breaking of beliefs to conquer one’s greatest fear is an enlightening and painful process. I mimicked the way Jesus’ survived and prevailed during his 40 days and nights of testing. Everything he needed to defeat external and internal enemies had already been deposited into him. So with private tears and public cheers, I marched on, until I could march out.

2016: Do you feel you’ve conquered your greatest fear?

EYHCS: Most days, I do.

2016: Willing to share it with others.

EYHCS: I feared disappointment.

2016: Disappointment?

EYHCS: Yes, disappointment. Disappointing others, disappointing myself, disappointing my ancestors <unrealistic>, disappointing my parents, and if I am honest, the disappointment of never being enough.

2016: What changed?

EYHCS: I watched my former self battle to regain control of the uncontrollable and win.

2016: How did that feel?

EYHCS: Good, no great! When the enemy saw me cower, the spirit saw me tower.

I watched mesmerized at times as obstacles became pathways. I silently praised in place as promises, visions, and dreams manifested around me and for me. I bit my tongue when necessary and raised my voice when required. I feel in love with me and I liked it! I hadn’t ever been in love with me before 2015, not really, but today I am and it’s great!

2016: Sounds like you figured some things out.

EYHCS: Some, but I have only scratched the surface.

2016: Any regrets?

EYHCS: No, this year was all about clearing up old regrets and living a life that produced no future regrets.

2016: How’s that?

EYHCS: I had to sacrifice my personal self to honor my spiritual-self several times in 2015. At times, I had to confront those who only sought the best for me, but couldn’t understand the choices I was making in how I dealt with certain situations.

2016: That sounds deep.

EYHCS: It is, but the deeper it got, the clearer it all became.

2016: Has anyone ever told you, sometimes your responses produced more questions than answers?

EYHCS: Yes.

2016: Care to add any more to that response?

EYHCS: No.

2016: Well, we’re day one in of 366 days. Care to share your plan for 2016?

EYHCS: Tried that once, the human mind could not comprehend the design.

EYHCS: So instead, in the words of one of my favorite characters, “where we’re going we don’t need any roads”!

2016: I can’t wait!

EYHCS: You don’t have to. You already know what is in store. I am the one who gets to discover it. Thank you for joining me in the journey.

2016: You’re welcome and thanks for sharing, EYHCS, it was a pleasure talking with you. Take care and see you on the other side.

EYHCS: Indeed, I pray you will {Insha’Allah}! One God, many names, and I love them all!!!

Daily Writing Prompt – Home Turf: What 5 Things Makes My Home – Home?

DSC04671

Daily Writing Prompt: Home Turf

What 5 Things Makes My Home – Home?

1.) My artwork

My artwork is a collection of pieces purchased, given, and traded for in exchange for my own created pieces (back when I used to paint). The purchased pieces represent a piece of my mind, my heart was attempting to express by the visual, my eyes did see. The given pieces are representations of what friends and family members believed would speak to me based on my current collection. The traded pieces are a sweet exchange of creativity from one artist to another. I gave of myself and the recipient/giver did the same.

2.) My Blu-ray & HD DVDs collections

They allude adventure, love, action, and passion. And, they remind me even in battle there are remnants left of the losing team. Sony and Microsoft fought a good fight. Sony won the war, but Microsoft’s contribution to the hi-definition movie industry will always exist as Blu-ray and HD DVDs sit side-by-side on my entertainment self.

3.) My writing desk

As a writer, my writing desk represents stories untold, characters underdevelopment in the right brain, and cognitive intuition of plots underdevelopment in the left brain. My writing desk makes rediscovering home an adventure as I release the electromagnetic energies of the temporal lobe across my screen each time I write a new piece. My writing desk speaks to me and says, “release the rainbow”, “release the ideal”, “release the concept”, “release the dream”, “release the vision”, and I will be your foundation that carries you home.

4.) Peace

There is an undeniable aura of peace when you cross the threshold of my home. The outside world drifts away the further you venture inside. It welcomes you in and washes over you with each breath you take.

5.) Tranquility

I have watched guest gravity into a spot and literally cascade away negative thoughts and emotions. The atmosphere whispers to all inhabitants, “take me away”. So we laugh, we drink, we eat, we are merry, and we forget about the things in the rearview mirror as we focus on the things alongside the road ahead.

Day 94 – A Doubting Thomas Situation

There are situations in life that will cause you to doubt who you are and whose you are. Especially, if you lack the foundation to understand those situations are created for those who lack the the very foundation you were given before your birth.

Day 25 – Is it Really the People?

If people are constantly coming at you with complaints about you, issues with your performance, issues with your work ethic, issues with your level of productivity…it might be time to reevaluate yourself and not the people. In other words, stop whining.

Day 14 – The Liver, The Kidney, The Heart, and The Brain: A Personal Ode to the Innards of My Life Force

Property of Dreamstime

In a earlier post I discussed my new fascination with dirt and innards. In this post, I will focus on the true nature of innards.

Intro

Innards are at the core of all things organs. Organs support the life-cycle of all living creatures. Organs need access to oxygen through the body’s vascular system. The source of the oxygen stems from the nutrients contained within the blood flowing through each vascular nerve.

Tainted blood also taints the life-cycle of all organs the blood comes into contact with as it travels throughout the body. In some cases, a blood transfusion or organ transplant maybe required to replenish, repair, or replace organs damaged by tainted blood. Once an organ has met an attack it receive extra care for a minimal of six months to five years, if not for a lifetime.

The Liver, The Kidney, The Heart, and The Brain: A Personal Ode to the Innards of My Life Force

The most common organs under attack include the liver, the kidney, and the heart. Each of these organs is responsible for cleaning the body of waste in one form or another. The all-powerful heart controls the speed and amount of blood flowing to and fro every organ in a living creature. There are four main chambers to the heart and all work together to keep us alive.

We rarely give thought to how we condition our heart as we grab a Big Mac and large fries, chain smoke those two or three packs of cigarette in a day or so, or create havoc everywhere we go by the swords we throw in the direction of the unexpected receiver of our angst and anger. We rarely give a second thought to the organs pumping life into us each and every millisecond of our lives on Earth as we spend countless dollars on the new trend of the hour. We rarely stop or pause to check the state of our innards even though they call out for us . The sharp pain in our chest is waved off with a finger as we pick up the next greasy sandwich. Or, the stabbing needle in our side as we jump up too quick from bed, forget about praying or thanking someone for another day, we mutter as we headed out the door. All the mundane things can wait for when I have more time. Our innards calls continual go unanswered until we cannot move at all.

Oh, let’s not forget the banging in our heads as we scream at the people we love and curse out the people we profess to love, but not like. Yes, it is me, proclaims the brain. I matter too. Did you think I would forget the one who holds the secrets of the past, present, and future of our very soul? Never, my brain knows me better than I know myself. How much better would we be if we fed our brains knowledge, power, peace, understanding, love, and all the things sweet dreams are made of, instead of the hate and garbage of our tattered society?

Sure we complain about the state of our economy, the state of our marriages, the state of our personal net worth, the state of our financial net worth, the state of all things we have the ability to change, if we change the way we treat the innards of our life force. Successful people rarely complain about their circumstances, because they devise strategic action plans to change or work around the obstacles in their path to victory. Powerful people are often the silent ones moving behind the scene quietly moving bishops and pawns into action as the king reaps the benefits. Successful and powerful people watch their life cycle and life force through a steady diet of truth, honest, and nutritious living. They feed their livers water for the soul. They feed their kidneys proteins and fiber to promote the cleansing cycle of their earthly vessels. They feed their hearts love and exercise to strengthen the engine of their life force. They feed their brains with positive affirmations to bolster their minds for the challenges ahead. They feed their innards and so their innards feed them the best life has to offer. When their innards call it is to say thank you instead of a call for help.

If you are still battling imaginary enemies, if you are still battling a systematic wall of never enough, if you are still battling sickness of the mind, the heart, or the soul, ask yourself one serious, honest, and non-judgmental question. What are you feeding the innards of the only life force you have?

Day 9 – Contradiction

IMG_2872

Contradicting your younger self when you are older shows growth. Contradicting your older self while you are still young shows forethought. Contradicting your present self as you are speaking about your current situation invalidates your credibility to yourself and others. When you are faced with competing ideas in your mind, allow them to battle each other until only one position remains.

Then and only then, will you retain credibility and respect.

Day 1 – New Year’s Eve Greeting and Proclamation from EYHCS

DSC04289

It is a new year today. A year has passed away. We have lost some important people in ourselves. There are people we began last year with who did not make it. Some died of natural causes. Some expired at the hands of another. Some simply faded away.

We have also gained some new people in our lives. While the new people will never replace the old ones, they are in our lives to help us through what is about to come next. Mourn the lost, but worship the living. You will need them in ways you cannot foresee, today.

For me, the year went by so fast I hardly had time to realize the changes happening in my life. It may have happened the same way for you. Regardless, of how the year turned out, we each can and will begin anew. We each can and should let go of the old. Put all the broken promises, all the dashed dreams, and all the misspoken words aside. Take the public and private pain from this past year, place them diligently in a brown box, pour lighter fuel on the contents, securely close the box, and set it afire. Watch it burn out and let it go.

We cannot go back and undo what has already happened. We can, however, make sure we operate in a manner so it never happens again. I wish each reader a glorious and prosperous awakening of all God has in store for you this 2015.

Happy 2015!

Day 258 – Mediation Series: Vertical Realignment

In life, a search for meaning is a journey worth taking.  Walking the path towards revelation is rocky, but intentionally satisfying.  It is introspectively rewarding and sets the sail in vertical realignment.
