I am the lighthouse. The sailors cannot find dry ground if I do not shine.

The lost cannot find the way if I do not chart the path.

This is our faith.

This is our teaching.

This is our burden.

And, this is our reward.

When the light dims, it is either replaced or it goes out.

Yet, energy is never lost, it can only be transformed.

Like most things in life, the first line is not the last line, except, maybe in poetry. {Inward smile}

Case in point: the dissection of wisdom

Pray for wisdom & our Father in heaven will give it to you.

True, he is faithful & his promises are true.

Yet, what is silently hidden in the prayer is the required response.

Wisdom comes through overcoming the insurmountable.

Wisdom comes through facing adversity with limited resources.

Wisdom comes through losing the one you love, to find, the one you need.

Wisdom like winning an Olympic medal is not easy. It requires dedication, sacrifice, conditioning, vision, and follow-through against all odds.

So pray for wisdom, but understand the prayer is the opening line of your favorite book.

Achieving wisdom comes through how you write the story.

Day 273: The Nuts and Bolts of Relationships

Relationships are like nuts and bolts.

Over screwing the bolt could strip the grooves beyond repair.

Use the wrong size nut and it will not fit.

Your use of force will make or break your relationship.

There are many degrees of force.

Emotional force.

Kinetic force.

Mental force.

Physical force.

Physiological force.

Silent force.

Levels and types of force are akin to the air we breathe.

If someone hands you a _5/16 bolt do not place a ¾ nut on it.

In turn, use the socket wrench when the increased power from a handheld drill, would warp the bolt.

The things meant to us may require work, but they rarely require force.

The definition of force indicates an exertion of power greater than required to achieve the desired goal.

Find the _5/16 nut in the basket of ¾ nuts and find your true pairing.

Day 233: Being Right

No human is ever 100% right all the time. None of the prophets were 100% right all of the time. The disciples were not 100% right all the time. It is okay to be wrong sometimes, for it is where our humility lives.

Jesus was even corrected at least once according to the written account of his time with the disciples.

Our mistake is thinking when we find or learn we are wrong that we should hide it. Instead, acknowledge it, embrace it, learn from it, and then let it go.

You are not God even though you were made in his image. An image is rarely an exact replication of the original.

Day 232: Children of God

The wise one knows when they find themselves offended they need to search their heart and not the offender’s words, motives, or actions.

As children of God, we are required to control our body, or thoughts, and our tongue. So, why do we always turn outward instead of inward when the offense comes?

The offense is a sign there is something we need to work on and that does not begin on the perimeter.

Day 229: People of Faith

As people of Faith, we occasionally endure situations or people unnecessarily. I surmise we confuse longsuffering with the power of faith.

Jesus experienced longsuffering as he prepared the disciples to carry on his God News Message.

Yet, he cursed the stubborn fig tree refusing to bear fruit and suffered no more.

In both cases, neither were ready to produce. Neither had reached the time for return on investment.

Yet, the disciples were allowed to continue on so the message would be carried forth. The fig tree writhed up and died never to birth another fig.

Sometimes we have to condition our mind to understand some situations and some people unwilling to move must be left, because even though it is not their time, it is our time.

That’s why many are called, but few are chosen.

My experience shows the chosen rely mostly on Faith and less on timing.

Faith in understanding being called has more to do with being willing than being ready.

Day 228: Leaders

The thing about being a leader is they always cross over the finish line. The crowd just watches them cross. Leaders are focused on attaining the goal. The crowd is focused on watching every move of the finisher.

Leaders don’t worry about the onlookers. They have mapped out the path to the finish line. The onlookers may see what a leader does, but not understand why the leader does it!

And, seeing without understanding makes it an emulation and not an experience.

Day 186: Please Retire the Phrase “You’re Coming Out” – Groundhog Season is Over an it’s Independence Day

Sometimes, I feel like the message, “You’re coming out” should be retired under Juneteenth.

In Texas, we celebrate a holiday of being made aware even as we sat in chains we had been pronounced free almost two years prior.

Really, it’s like being imprisoned, watching the guard unlock the cell doors, announce your freedom, hand you – your release papers, and you turning over and going back to sleep.

In life, we are already out, but it’s easier to complain than to be held accountable for producing. I cannot be called out of a prison that no longer exists, unless I lock the cell door on myself. And, that’s not captivity. That’s self-imprisonment.

Breathing fire does not make you a firefighter.
Do not spew venom and call it a cure.
Venom is poisonous and can lead to an infection.
The antidote cures the infected.
Know the difference.
Then live it differently.
And, your life will be different.
